The Fairmont Miramar Hotel's Historic Bungalow Renovation Complete
The only accommodations of their kind in Santa Monica, the exceptionally private Bungalows at The Fairmont Miramar Hotel Santa Monica have served as an exclusive playground for celebrities, politicians, and other discerning guests seeking luxury and seclusion. Under the creative aegis of Virginia Ball of VB Designs, a small Los Angeles based interiors firm, the bungalows recently underwent a $1 million renovation, which represents the final phase of the hotel's $18 million refurbishment program.
The goal of the renovation was to transform the Bungalows into a residential environment so that each guest feels right at home in this beautiful seaside property.The 28 structures were remodeled one at a time. An equal amount of care was given to the original Craftsman design. As such, each abode retained its spacious patios and terraces, hardwood floors, oversized tubs, and French windows.Set apart from the main hotel building, the Bungalows are connected by a winding path that runs though the property's lush landscape and pool areas.
Fresh new fabrics have been incorporated into the rooms, including vibrant golden drapery with a blue floral accent band at the hem. The new wall covering in the parlors resembles grass cloth while a broad blue/white striped wall covering brightens the bathroom.
Luxurious bed linens give the guestroom an inviting feel. New exotic veneer headboards with inlay details, custom night stands & settees, and McGuire desks have been incorporated into the rooms, as well.
The patio furniture was re-upholstered in a vibrant, multi-color stripe that adds an unexpected punch of color to each private patio.
A variety of new services and amenities are also exclusively available to Bungalow guests: * Prior to arrival, the Bungalow Personal Assistant contacts each Bungalow guest to ensure their needs prior to arrival and during their entire stay are tended to with the utmost attention to detail.
* Upon arrival, Bungalow guests will receive a complimentary edible welcome amenity made up of a cinnamon-and-sugar "white sand beach" with chocolate surfboards and beach balls.
* A complimentary sun hat and beach towel is also provided.* The "Patio Panache" Bungalow BBQ and Menu prepared by the hotel chef is available for lunch and dinner. There are three menu options or guests can have menus customized to their liking.* As a Bungalow resident, guests also have access to a private selection of wines and top shelf specialty cocktails.

Shortly after Fairmont Hotels & Resorts acquired the management contract in November 1999, the historic Miramar Hotel underwent a top to bottom redesign. The first phase of the renovation encompassed all guest rooms and suites in the Ocean Tower and Pacific Palisades building as well as the lobby, lobby bar and Koi Pond Lounge, The Grille restaurant patio, and conference bungalows. Even the main drive up entryway underwent a re-landscaping.The hotel has 302 guest rooms, including the 32 single and bi-level bungalows.
